Room for Three began as a classic Upper West Side two-bedroom that no longer fit the way its owners lived. The goal was to create a true three-bedroom home without it feeling forced or overworked. By carefully reworking the layout, we introduced a properly sized third bedroom that feels intentional, maintains natural light, and preserves the easy flow of the apartment.
Behind the scenes, the renovation went much deeper than finishes alone. We fully upgraded the apartment’s electrical and plumbing systems, modernizing the infrastructure throughout and increasing the unit’s total electrical amperage from the basement to support contemporary living. These improvements allowed for better lighting, updated appliances, and long-term reliability — work that isn’t always visible, but makes a meaningful difference in how the home functions every day.
The kitchen was redesigned to feel calm, functional, and durable. Caesarstone countertops were selected for their clean look and everyday practicality, paired with custom cabinetry and timeless tile work that will age well over time. Layered accent lighting, including subtle under-cabinet illumination, adds warmth and ensures the space works just as well in the early morning as it does in the evening.
Throughout the apartment, we installed new hardwood flooring, creating a consistent foundation that ties each room together. Bathrooms followed the same straightforward approach — clean tile selections, well-balanced lighting, and fixtures chosen for longevity rather than trend. Lighting was used quietly across the home, guiding movement and adding depth without ever calling attention to itself.
At its core, Room for Three is about thoughtful changes that feel natural. It’s a home that looks considered but not overdesigned — comfortable, durable, and built to support real life on the Upper West Side.
